In some cases, patients may require bone grafting to prepare their jawbone for dental implant surgery. This procedure involves transplanting either natural or synthetic bone material into the affected area to create a stronger, more stable foundation for the implant. The healing process can take several months as the grafted bone gradually integrates with the existing jawbone.
Once the graft has successfully healed, patients can move forward with the dental implant procedure. Bone grafting is a common step in many treatment plans, and our team will guide you through every part of it.
After the implant is placed, the bone and gums need time to heal around it. This is called osseointegration, and it makes the implant strong enough to last. Once healing is done, we attach a small connector piece called an abutment.
The abutment is the anchor for your final tooth: a custom crown made to match the shape and shade of your other teeth. Together, the abutment and crown work like a natural tooth when you eat and talk.
