If you have the Canadian Dental Care Plan, the short answer is yes. Crowns and dentures are both on the list of services the plan covers.
The longer answer has a few steps in it, and they are worth knowing before you book.
To qualify, all four of these must apply:
Applications for the 2026 to 2027 benefit period are open. You can apply through My Service Canada Account, online on Canada.ca, or by phone at 1-833-537-4342. There is no fee to apply or to renew.
The plan puts crowns and dentures under major restorative care. Some of that care needs the plan to say yes before the work starts. This is called preauthorization.
Crowns need it, and so does the core that sometimes goes under a crown. Partial dentures need it too.
In plain words: we look at the tooth, send the plan the details of the treatment, and wait for its answer before we begin. It adds a little time. It also means you are not left with a bill you did not see coming.
How much the plan pays depends on your adjusted family net income:
Those percentages are of the plan’s own set fee for each service. If a dentist’s fee is higher than that, the difference can be added to your bill.
Before you agree to treatment, Ontario dentists have to tell you what the plan will and will not cover. That way you know your share first.
There are also limits on how often some services are covered. Going past them needs approval as well.
Orthodontics, like braces and clear aligners, is not covered. If you are not sure about a treatment, ask us before your visit and we will go through it with you.
We are a registered CDCP provider at our office on Aldersbrook Road. When you call, tell us you have the plan. At your first visit we check your teeth, explain what you need, and tell you what the plan covers before anything is done.
